The biggest source of pride for Lower Carniolans is Cviček – the only European wine with a less than 10% alcohol level. Due to its mild acidity and low level of alcohol and its healing effects, even doctors recommend drinking it in moderate amounts. It goes especially well with strong-flavoured meat dishes. White Carniolans pride themselves in Metliška črnina and Belokranjec, two original Slovene wines, Portugalka (Portugieser), as well as predicate wines, late harvests and sparkling wines. The fact that White Carniola is the home of the best wine grower in Slovenia, who has been holding the title for two years, testifies of the fact that White Carniolans are excellent wine growers.
