Despite its old age, it remains vital, although its growth in diameter and height has slowed down. It grows on shallow karst soils along the route of the former \u017daga Rog forest railway. With its grandeur, it convinced the foresters over a century ago not to cut it down.   <\/p>\n<p>The fir tree is a key component of the Dinaric fir-beech forests. Over the past 40 years, its share in the forest stock has significantly decreased.
