It is one of the largest Slovenian galleries in terms of exhibition space and collection size. With its art collections\u2014centered around works by Slovenian expressionists\u2014and temporary exhibitions, it brings life to this exceptional cultural monument and its surroundings. The gallery is named after the artist Bo\u017eidar Jakac, and also features permanent exhibitions of artists such as Jo\u017ee Gorjup, Tone Kralj, France Kralj, France Gor\u0161e, Janez Boljka, Zoran Didek, Bogdan Bor\u010di\u0107, and the Pleterje Collection of European painters, which belongs to the nearby Pleterje Charterhouse. The former monastery church and lapidarium are dedicated to major exhibition projects specially prepared for these venues. The gallery also manages two off-site exhibition spaces: the Gorjup Gallery in the Jo\u017ee Gorjup Primary School and the Lamut Art Salon in a former ministerial mansion on the island. Since 1961, the international sculpture symposium Forma viva has taken place in Kostanjevica na Krki, recognized as the oldest ongoing symposium of its kind in the world. Over the years, more than 100 sculptures have been created and are displayed around the Bo\u017eidar Jakac Gallery and throughout Kostanjevica na Krki.       <\/p>\n<p>OPENING HOURS:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday\u2013Sunday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM (November\u2013March)  <\/p>\n<p>9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (April\u2013October)  <\/p>\n<p>In July and August, the gallery is open until 8:00 PM on weekends. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The gallery is closed on Mondays.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1974, the Bo\u017eidar Jakac Gallery was established in the renovated premises of the former Cistercian monastery in Kostanjevica na Krki.
