Baraga Homestead

The Baraga Homestead in Mala vas represents a distinctively shaped landmark in the area. The Baraga Mansion, in its size and design, resembles a small castle. The stone plaque between the low windows to the left of the large doors bears witness that our great missionary Friderik Irenej Baraga was born here, who forever inscribed the name of the Slovenian people in the history of the northernmost regions of the United States of America. On the upper floor of the preserved building, there is a memorial presentation about the life of the famous missionary in several rooms.
