Beekeeping

Beekeeping in Dolenjska has a long and proud tradition, dating back to the 18th century. It was here, at Lanšprež near Mirna, that Peter Pavel Glavar founded the very first beekeeping school in Slovenia – a cornerstone in the development of this craft in our country.

Today, this rich heritage lives on through numerous family-owned apiaries, where visitors can taste honey in a wide variety of flavors – from floral, acacia, and linden to forest, chestnut, and spruce.

But Dolenjska is not only known for its excellent honey. It also offers unique bee-inspired experiences. On many farms and with local providers, you can try apitherapy, honey wellness treatments, take guided tours of traditional beehives, or simply relax in nature while breathing in the scents of melliferous plants.
