Krka river
The Krka River knows countless stories and tales of these lands. This emerald beauty will enchant you with its tranquil flow and connection to the lives of the people. So, take your time and explore its banks, dive into the crystal-clear water, or embark on your journey by boat, kayak, or SUP.
Lehnjak
The Krka is the only Slovenian river that creates tufa in its bed. With its help, it forms various islands, barriers, and cascades, over which the water flows in a waterfall. This is especially interesting for those who want to explore the river in boats or kayaks.
Mill, and Sawmills
The Krka Valley boasts the intertwining of natural and cultural heritage. Among the cultural heritage are the disappearing mills and sawmills, which in the past played an important role in the lives of the locals. The most famous were Seidl’s mill and sawmill in the old town center of Novo mesto.
Bridges
The bridges have also left a distinctive mark on the landscape. In the past, many wooden bridges spanned the river, and today, the following are preserved near Novo mesto: near the village of Loke, near the village of Otočec, and by Otočec Castle.
Fun and refreshment are always guaranteed on the banks of the Krka. Visit the numerous swimming areas or indulge in the pleasures of boating. A special experience is a raft ride, where you can even dine or attend a musical evening! In honor of the river, the event “Night on the Krka” takes place every year, marking the highlight of the season.
