Ecological Farm Kukenberger

Kukenberger Eco Dairy in Gorenje Ponikve near Trebnje is the only farm in Slovenia producing organic A2 hay milk. The farm is guided by three core values: exceptional product quality, the well-being of both animals and people, and sustainable farming practices.

Around 30 hectares of farmland are dedicated to producing hay, the primary feed for the farm’s herd of approximately 50 animals. The cows graze outdoors for at least half the year and spend the winter in a spacious, airy, and comfortable barn.

Milk from the traditional Brown Swiss breed, which has been present in Slovenia for centuries and is known for its high-quality protein content, is transformed into a wide range of dairy products, including semi-hard cheeses, fresh cheeses, grilling cheese, several types of cottage cheese, yoghurt, kefir, sour cream, and butter.

Committed to protecting natural resources and promoting sustainable agriculture, the farm entered the organic certification process in 2013 and was awarded its organic certification for milk and dairy products in January 2015.
